American Global News

When American Global opened its doors in South Florida in 2014, one of its first initiatives was to establish an annual fundraiser that would enable the company to give back to their local community as a team – a core value on which the firm was built. Ten years later, the American Global Soccer Tournament & Fundraising Event has grown into a full-day extravaganza, featuring an educational presentation, a multi-team soccer tournament and a closing cocktail reception for a night of networking with over 350 attendees.

This year, the morning presentation featured an informative and interactive panel discussion on “The Evolution of Procurement: Increase in Design-Build” led by moderator Annie Fleckser, President of American Global’s Pennsylvania operations. She was joined by two distinguished construction executives, CEO Don Graul of Branch Group and COO Jesus Vazquez of NV2A, together with Geoff Delisio, Head of Surety for Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and Jennifer Lee, Vice President/National Practice Lead Large Loss Sensitive Construction for Travelers.

Following the presentation, guests joined their American Global hosts for a fun yet competitive 12-team tournament featuring two “free agent” squads comprised of industry colleagues as well as teams from Allianz, Chubb, GCCOM, Juneau Construction, Liberty Mutual, Portiere Services, Sacyr, Travelers and our 2024 Soccer Champion, Ferreira Construction.

CEO Michael Marino said, “This could not have been a better way to kick off the celebration of the firm’s 10-year anniversary,” which officially falls on May 2nd. “Each year, event attendance and our contribution to the YMCA has grown by leaps and bounds. We relished the opportunity to share the day with teammates, clients and colleagues, and we are especially grateful for their generosity which allows American Global to keep our charitable commitment.

It was at the cocktail reception, along the banks of the Miami River, where Michael Marino was thrilled to announce that the $20,000 fundraising goal had not only been achieved, but thanks to one extremely generous donation from our friends at GCCOM (and dollar-for-dollar matching funds from American Global), a total of $50,000 will ultimately be donated to the YMCA of South Florida! The YMCA’s mission to help local youth excel and grow – both on the field and off – is a worthy and important cause and American Global is grateful to everyone who contributed.
